School Captains' Welcome

School Captain 2009 Bebe Ahna D’Souza
School Vice Captain 2009 Jennifer Tang

As School Captains of the Mac.Robertson Girls' High School, we could not be more proud to lead such a motivated, diverse and engaged student body. Our school is one which provides each individual with a myriad of opportunities in an environment which is both stimulating and supportive.

By representing the school at The Alliance of Girls Schools Conference in mid-January, we have come back more inspired than ever, and feel capable of meeting the demands of this challenging role. To those girls who are embarking on their journey at Mac.Rob, we implore you to immerse yourselves in what is truly the heart of our school; the vibrant culture which extends well beyond the classroom.

The variety of co-curricular opportunities are both diverse and endless, from football to Anime Club, quartet to debating. It is the skills and friendships that are formed through joining sport groups, ensembles and clubs that shape each individual and are the key to the success of so many students.

The strong house spirit exuded at numerous school events such as athletics, chorals and even lip-synching always ensures a magnificent display of school pride.

Students are also given the opportunity to attend many competitions and exchanges such as the Adelaide High School Sporting Exchange and the Sydney High School Leadership exchange. Providing a chance to build friendships, learn invaluable skills from students in different schools whilst at the same time doing something that they passionate about. The leadership exchange is one of the many leadership opportunities that are provided at the school.

Through the array of leadership roles such as Form Captain and SRC, students are able to develop and enhance their leadership skills which are valuable in the classroom and wider community settings. In particular, we are privileged to have the chance to work with the Form Captains this year. Every student has the opportunity to nominate themselves as Form Captain. The role of the Form Captain is to look after the administrative duties within their class and to represent the school in different formal events such as the Premier's Awards. They are also the key organisers of events such as the Middle School Form Challenge and also work in conjunction with other leaders such as the SRC to organise other major school events.

We strongly feel that the key to a successful year is through combing the insights and aspirations of each and every student, which is why we encourage everyone with an idea, whether small or large to voice it. This year's student body is one filled with likeminded girls with mutual drive and determination. In 2009, we have the capacity to weave our own unique ambitions into the rich fibre of Mac.Rob, and to draw wisdom from each other which we will no doubt build upon and as we continue on our future paths.
