Sport plays a vital role in our extracurricular program at MacRob. Being part of the VSSSA, students are given the opportunity to extend their sporting ability in competitive teams against other schools at a district, zone and state level.
The school competes in the following summer sports:
- Athletics
- Cricket
- Lacrosse
- Lawn Bowls
- Softball
- Swimming and Diving
- Tennis
- Volleyball
The school competes in the following winter sports:
- Aerobics
- Badminton
- Basketball
- Cross Country
- Gymnastics
- Hockey
- Netball
- Soccer
- Squash
- Table Tennis
The inter-house swimming and athletics carnival allow for every student to become involved in MacRob’s sporting program. We highly encourage all students to attend tryouts for such teams and to be prepared to attend training sessions if successful. Training sessions will undoubtly vary for each sport, and may be held before school, lunchtimes or after school.
In addition to this, students may suggest other sporting competitions or programs which they wish to be involved in. This allows for the school to consider entering a team into these events. In the past, the volleyball and aerobics team have entered competitions outside the VSSSA. In other cases, touch football and European handball teams have been established.
A major highlight of the sporting program is the Adelaide Exchange, which takes place in early August. This exchange involves competition between students in a range of events, played at an interstate level. We will be selecting teams by the end of May, to allow for training well before the competition commences. The two schools compete for the Prefect’s Cup, which has been retained by Macrob for 7 years running.
Sport at MacRob welcomes for further improvement. If there are any further questions or suggestions, feel free to contact us at any time.
