Student Leadership

2010 Student Leaders

Mac.Rob provides a wide range of opportunities and encourages students to develop skills in:

  • Speaking out, sharing their own ideas and listening to other peoples’ concerns and opinions.
  • Building confidence and assertiveness and learning to take risks.
  • Decision-making: making things happen, working as a team and meeting new people.
  • Organisational skills: delegating tasks, managing budgets and following through.

Students from all levels attend a number of student leadership forums arranged by the wider community during the year, including the Steps to the Future Conferences, Reach Workshops, various Vision Generation (World Vision) activities and the National Leadership Conference in NSW.
Teams of students work extensively on developing personal and leadership skills through their involvement in the following programs:

  • The Lord Mayor's Fund: Youth in Philanthropy Project where Year 10 and 11 students review grant applications and visit three charities to form a recommendation for funding allocations to the Lord Mayor's Fund.
  • The Year 10 Girls’ State Schools Conference planned and organised by a team of students from eight state girls' schools each year.
  • Youth Leaders International involves a three year commitment developing community projects and overseas travel each year.

Each year students initiate a wide range of activities and programs. In the past these have included:

  • State Girls School’s Student Leadership Conference, organised in collaboration with student leaders from a variety of State Girls’ High Schools.
  • Multicultural Week, a range of activities including food stalls, calligraphy lessons, belly dancing, guest speakers.
  • Health Forum, an opportunity to learn about a range of health and well-being issues as well as learn new skills.
  • International Women’s Day events.

To name but a few.
