Library Update | What’s New in September.

What’s New in the Library.

As always, many things go on behind the scenes of the library doors, not just the numerous loans and returns at the desk, the shelving of books, displays being dismantled and new ones being made, helping students with printing issues, unjamming the copiers, unboxing new books that have been delivered, and contacting students about overdues. We are constantly working through a flow of tasks in order to meet student and staff needs and promote the library.

Book Week has come and gone, Mr. Jach will be back in the library next term from his long service leave, and we head into the final term of the school year.

Endless thanks to Madame Jessica Olp for helping me in the library while Mr. Jach has been away. Her kindness and professionalism has been amazing and I am very grateful!

We hope everyone has a great holiday.

Book Week Celebrations.

Book Week at Mac.Rob was from August 18th to 22nd. The Library events included the annual Mac.Rob Bookmark Design Competition, and the author talk on Tuesday lunchtime of Dr. Arachchi, paediatrician, hosted by Raga K (11A), and Soleil P (12K).

Let’s not forget the schoolwide Book Parade on a beautiful sunny Thursday lunchtime, with staff and students in costume.

The leadership team were dressed as Ms Harrap as Cruella De Ville and Ms Pride, Mr Mechelen and Mr Crocket (plus a few other staff) as the Dalmatians. Ms Harrap and I judged the costumes, and prizes were handed out for:

  • Best Group: Pragna U (12F), Rithi V (12C), Soleil P (12K) and Hannah J (12C)

  • Best DIY / Sustainable Costume: Hazel C (11J)

  • Best Staff Costume: Ms. Helen Theodorakis (Food Technology Assistant) and Ms. Iris Hastings (Food Technology Teacher)

  • Best House: Oreads

The McReads group held their very successful Jeopardy event to finish the week off. Many students participated and the English team competed, with prizes of Dymocks vouchers, canteen vouchers and printing vouchers, plus chocolates. They also ran several other activities to celebrate the love of reading and books which were Guess the Teacher’s Favourite Book, Create a Story…, and Guess the Book by the Emojis.

The library had amazing entries to the Bookmark Competition with students across all year levels taking the time to create beautiful designs supported by their brief explanations. More prizes of chocolate, Dymocks vouchers, canteen vouchers and printing vouchers were distributed.

Thank you to all the students that participated.
