Design & Technology: Design Solutions - Textiles.
Over the summer break, students met Ms. Cordingley in L215 to complete their major projects from 2025. Our new learning environment in L215 encourages students to be inspired and take some risks to produce exciting design solutions and impressive creations.
In this update, we are highlighting Kiona McG (11I) and her exceptional creations. Kiona created her own pattern for her elegant black dress including the chain embellishment at the back of the garment making the dress unique. The denim bag is made from recycled jeans and hand embroidered as a celebration of cultures including a salute to Australia with 2 kangaroos jumping along the band.
Kiona’s beautiful handiwork communicates a strong and proud identity. Lastly, as a tribute to Vivienne Westwood, Kiona created a set of nails to honour Britain’s most celebrated designer. The nails show Westwood's creative diversity from Punk to Haute Couture, mainstream and protest design, and finally her dedication to sustainability.
We trust that Kiona will continue her passion for design solutions throughout the year. Congratulations Kiona on your impressive creations.
This semester, the Design & Technology students are visiting the NGV to see the designs of Vivienne Westwood, Rei Kawakubo, and Dior. Watch this space to see the growth of Mac.Rob’s young designers and their design solutions.
