Environment Committee Thrift Store Event
On Thursday, May 1st, the Environment Committee hosted its annual thrift store event, nifty fun for thrifty shopping! This greatly anticipated event made a victorious return to the Mac.Rob calendar with amazing student engagement and participation!
This event represented the union between fashion and sustainability, showcasing how we can reduce waste through some economical thrifting. Through the range of various second-hand items in store, we aimed to highlight the affordability and beauty of buying secondhand clothing, educating students about various habits that can be endorsed to lead a more sustainable lifestyle.
Students learned about the importance of donating items that are no longer of use to us instead of disposing of them, allowing better use of the items that would otherwise end up in landfill.
With a little fun and excitement, we encouraged students to buy second hand accessories, textbooks, clothing and more and foster a culture that supports op-shopping and reusing.
We had many students come by and find their little treasures through the lunchtime and it was amazing to see our community supporting our initiative.
Of course this event would not have been possible without our amazing members of the Environment Committee who helped promote and run this event and most of all, our Environment Committee co-captains Anh-Tu and Alisa for being the real heroes of the event. Without their support and guidance, we would not have been able to conduct this event so successfully.
We cannot wait to host this event again next year, and we’re so excited to see you at our future environment events!
