National Sorry Day Lunch

A Special Afternoon: Our Visit to the National Sorry Day Lunch.

On Monday, May 26th, 2025, three of our students, along with Assistant Principal, Sam Crocket, and our Community Partnerships Leader, Rehana Ziyad, attended the National Sorry Day Lunch at the St Kilda Town Hall, hosted by the Port Phillip Citizens for Reconciliation. It was a really special afternoon where we got to learn more about National Sorry Day and hear from some incredible speakers.

The event kicked off with a warm Welcome to Country from Bunurong Elder Uncle Mark Brown. We were also treated to some amazing music by singer-songwriter James Henry, whose relaxed style and beautiful songs really set the mood. Elder Uncle Dennis Fisher, also known as Den the Fish, was the MC and kept everyone engaged with his storytelling and humour.

There was a delicious lunch and plenty of great conversations about the importance of National Sorry Day and how we can support reconciliation in our own lives. A few lucky people even walked away with door prizes!

Our students said they loved being part of this community event and came away with a better understanding of why saying sorry and acknowledging the past is so important. Big thanks to the Port Phillip Citizens for Reconciliation and the City of Port Phillip for making this event possible – it’s one we won’t forget.
