Gifted Outreach Program.
Eager, high-ability students from Seaford Primary School, St Kilda Primary School, Balwyn Primary School, Coatesville Primary School, Templestowe Heights Primary School, Murrumbeena Primary School, Taylors Lake Primary School and Kings Park Primary School joined us for 2025’s Gifted Outreach Program. From the first session, we knew that this experience would be very special.
We explored the UN Sustainable Development Goal of gender equality, using the design thinking process to reach a solution to different aspects of this problem. It was amazing to watch the primary school students ask questions, listen to each other and share their own ideas. By the Ideation stage of the process, we were swimming in butcher's paper and sticky notes!
The Showcase was the highlight. As Mentors, we were blown away by the passion and confidence of every student. There was a real sense of pride from everyone in the room. These students had not only grown to be more socially aware individuals but also made many new friends.
The Mentors were Maryam A, Raga B, Salma F, Lei F, Ananya G, Shreya K, Hannah L, Amy L, Takdir S, Tript S, Adithi V and Alice V.
Thank you to Dr McPherson, Mr Thiel, Ms Harrap, and all the other staff who were involved for their hard work. We’re incredibly grateful to have been part of this experience. We look forward to next year’s program and the innovation it will bring!
