Library Update | What’s New in December.
What’s New in the Library.
How strange that a whole school year has happened as we finalise holiday reading loans and make final purchases that will arrive in the new year and head into the school break with Christmas and the new year celebrations so close.
We have said goodbye to the Year 12s, especially the students that we came to know well in their final year because they chose to do their studying in our library spaces daily.
We lent out all of our dictionaries many times over for all the exams from VCE to Year 9. Along with binding endless notes, directing students to the staplers, keeping CAS calculators charged, loaning rulers and erasers and pencils and the regular borrowing of resources in between the exam stress!
In the last week and a bit, Kickstart involved consulting with leadership and helping to organise booklist parcels for Early English novels to students.
Thank you to all the students who have helped out in the library this year, to those who completed their Duke of Ed with us, to the students that borrow regularly, to the students who request resources, to those students who stop by for chats about books, or just to say hello. We appreciate all the support and kindness and hope you have a safe, relaxing, happy holiday! See you in 2026.

Recommendations by Teresa Y (12E)
Since arriving at Mac.Rob in 2022, Teresa has been one of the most prolific readers and enduring supporters of the Library, having borrowed 451 books in her time at our school! With Teresa completing Year 12 this year, here are some of her final recommendations…
No Longer Human / Osamu Dazai and Donald Keen
Reviewed by Theodora G (9H)
“No Longer Human is a well-written story about a tragic man named Oba Yozo with sprinkles of flavour of Osamu Dazai’s real life experiences and thoughts. I thoroughly enjoy when books are used to question society and push the author's personal philosophical thoughts and this classic novel does both. For those who wish to broaden their perspective, especially with learning about more nihilistic thinking, this book is a must read!”
