Ride2School Day 2024

Our annual Ride2School Day on Friday, March 15th, was a ride-away success, and we are wheely excited to share all the details with you. As the wheels of another Ride2School Day come to a stop, we can’t help but reflect on the fun and joy along the way.

A particular highlight of ours (the Sports Fam), was seeing everyone get involved and nurturing a healthier lifestyle by riding or walking to school. It was so inspiring seeing the students and even teachers getting involved, and it was so heartwarming to see new connections building, and existing ones strengthening. Ride2School was more than just transportation; it was about nurturing a culture of wellness in MacRob and fostering the sense of community within.

The Environment Committee members facilitated many walking groups from South Yarra and Flinders Street. Whether you rode or walked (we even saw a skateboard!), every pedal and step contributed to a healthier, greener future for us and our community. Plus, let’s not pedal past the endorphin boost that comes from kicking off your day with a bit of exercise, as well as delicious smoothies! Picture this: students riding a stationary bike with blenders whirring behind them - filled with nutritious berries and plant-based milk! It’s like a smoothie spin class, where the only thing sweeter than the fruits themselves is knowing that you’ve earned every sip.

Apart from drinks, Ride2School Day also offered a delicious breakfast for all! Upon arrival, hungry riders and walkers were greeted with a spread of hot cross buns (even chocolate ones!), freshly baked banana bread, and an assortment of fresh fruit. It was the perfect start to the day - thank you to all of the donations! And of course, we can’t forget the Easter egg hunt! We turned our campus into a treasure trove, with chocolate eggs hidden in every nook and cranny. Many students searched to find these treats, turning our morning into an egg-citing adventure!

A huge thank you to our amazing local businesses for their generous donations that took Ride2School day to the next level! As if the smoothies and breakfast donations weren’t enough to get our hearts racing, we also had many prizes to win - from $100 Coles vouchers (donated by Sanitarium) to a matcha and soy milk merch pack (donated by Happy Happy Soy Boy) and a T2 Advent Calendar (donated by T2). Their support made this day even more special and memorable. Seeing everyone embrace eco-friendly modes of transport not only promoted our own health, but strengthened our dedication to a healthier Earth. Here's to many more wheely good adventures in the future – keep pedalling and spreading the joy of Ride2School Day!
