Be Like Her Live!

On Thursday, March 14th, some of our student leadership team made their radio debuts with the Be Like Her Live! Radio program. This involved interviewing Palladians (Mac.Rob alumni) about their lives, including experiences at Mac.Rob, and their careers.

We filmed the interviews about a week before they were broadcast, and in order to do so, we needed to learn a lot about how to be a radio host, so prior to filming, we undertook a day-long training workshop, in which we were taught how to conduct an interview, and became familiar with the technology. This included many things that you don't even notice when listening to the radio yourself, but play a big role in viewership and engagement, such as ensuring there was no 'dead air' and how body language, despite not being seen by listeners, can play a big role in the quality of your interview.

The following day, we were able to meet with our interviewees and film. This included a huge variety of people, from Ms Eugenia Mitrakas OAM, a celebrated lawyer, to Ms Sutapa Howlader, a humanitarian coordinator for the UN, and many more.

All of the interviews we conducted were extremely interesting and gave a lot of insight into their careers and the difficulties they faced, as well as advice for overcoming these challenges.

Overall, the whole program was very rewarding and hugely successful.
