Community Partnerships Update | May, 2026.

Celebrating Our Newest Palladians.

On Monday, April 27th, we held a special ceremony to officially welcome our latest group of students into the Palladians Association.

The atmosphere was one of pride and connection as students gathered to mark their official registration with our esteemed alumni network. We were honored to have the Palladians Association President, Lauren Solly, join us for the occasion. Lauren spoke about the enduring strength of the Mac.Rob community and  presented each student with their official Palladians pin, a welcome card and a freddo.

This badge ceremony is more than just a formal welcome; it represents the beginning of a lifelong connection to a network of inspiring women and non-binary individuals who have walked these halls before them. Wearing the Palladians pin serves as a reminder of the shared history, support, and professional opportunities that await our students as they transition from being Mac.Robbians to alumni.

Congratulations to all the students who received their badges! We look forward to seeing you engage with the Palladians community and carry the Mac.Rob spirit forward into your future endeavors.

Umbrella Law Mentoring 2026.

Celebrating another successful year of partnership with Umbrella Family Law

We are thrilled to mark the completion of our Year 11 Mentoring Program. This marks the fourth year our students have had the incredible opportunity to learn from the best in the field.

Over several sessions, our students worked diligently on a special project under the expert guidance of the Umbrella Law team. To wrap up the program, students presented their final projects, and the results were truly impactful.

These projects will soon be featured as resources on the Umbrella Family Law website, specifically designed to support teenagers whose parents are going through a separation. Seeing our students use their voices and research to provide genuine support for their peers is incredibly rewarding.

A huge thank you to Jane, Eve, Maria, and the entire team for your ongoing mentorship and for empowering our students to create work with real world impact.

Year 12s Go Behind the Scenes at Peter Mac.

Last week, a group of our Year 12 students had the incredible opportunity to step inside the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre for an exclusive guided tour. As a facility ranked as the best of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere, it provided a powerful backdrop for our students to see their STEM studies in action.

The visit was a deep dive into the world of medical science and cutting-edge technology. Our students represented Mac.Rob with exceptional curiosity and professionalism, impressing the staff with their insightful questions.

Students were given a rare look at the facility's specialized machinery, observing Radiation Therapy, Medical Imaging, and Nuclear Medicine units in operation.

We heard from leading professionals about the interdisciplinary nature of cancer research and the vital role that physics, biology, and chemistry play in patient care.

A presentation/ Q&A session offered a "day-in-the-life" perspective of Radiotherapists and researchers, providing invaluable clarity for our students as they begin to finalize their university preferences and career goals.

The students feedback highlights just how impactful the day was:

  • "Seeing the scale of the technology and hearing from the people who use it every day made the career path feel real and exciting. It really helped me visualize what I want to do next year."

  • "I loved seeing the actual linear accelerators in the bunkers. It’s one thing to see a diagram in a textbook, but standing next to the machinery and seeing how it helps patients was incredible."

  • "The Q&A with the Radiotherapists was so helpful. They didn't just talk about the science; they talked about the empathy and communication needed to work in a hospital. It definitely changed how I view my future university preferences."

  • "I didn't realize how many different careers work together in one building, from physicists to nurses to nuclear medicine scientists. It was an eye-opening look at teamwork in STEM."

The staff at Peter Mac noted the high level of engagement and enthusiasm from our cohort was unique.

We are immensely grateful to the team at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre for their time, their support, and for providing such a motivating experience for the Class of 2026.
