Social Justice Update: June, 2026.
Across the Social Justice Portfolio, we are always striving to bring light to the many challenges faced by others and working together to create real positive change. Throughout Term 2, our Mac.Rob community has continued to embrace this through fundraising, advocacy and creating plenty of opportunities for students to come together in support of these instrumental causes.
We hit the term running with the return of our weekly bake stalls, once again filling recess and lunchtime with plenty of mouthwatering sweet treats! It truly is heartwarming to see so many students stopping by every single week helping to support charities and making a real difference with their purchases. Our bake stalls this term centered on fundraising for Berry Street, a service organisation that works to ensure children and people with disabilities are safe and supported to lead their best lives free from abuse, neglect and discrimination.
Sports Charity Match
One of the highlights of Term 2 was without a doubt our annual Sports Charity Match, where students went up against staff in an invigorating lunchtime full of friendly competition and school spirit. Congratulations to our extremely talented student team for coming away with the win! From the cheers on the sidelines to the impressive displays of teamwork on the court, the atmosphere was all around lively.
A special shout-out is also in order for the unforgettable halftime rap performance which certainly brought some laughter (and chocolates!) to the audience.
“The Sports Charity Match was a fantastic display of the sportsmanship and teamwork that is so deeply embedded in school culture! Along with this, it was wonderful to see such widespread engagement, enthusiasm and participation from everyone who attended the netball matches!” - Nandini S, Year 12 Social Justice Executive
This Term’s match worked to raise funds for both Berry Street and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), whose mission is to protect people forced to flee conflict and persecution while helping to rebuild brighter futures. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who made the event possible through playing, cheering or helping to run the event.
Fundraising Talent Show
The stage came alive later on into the Term as students showcased an incredible range of acts at our Fundraising Talent Show. From the spectacular circus acts to the range of musical numbers including band performances, vocal solos, and instrumental pieces, the theatre was a wonderful celebration of the unique gifts beyond academic excellence within our Mac.Rob community. The event also helped to raise funds for the Starlight Children’s Foundation, which partners with health professionals to bring joy to seriously ill children, helping them cope with the apprehensive emotions that can come with hospital treatment.
“Mac.Rob, you’ve really got talent! From circus acts, band performances to stunning solos, we saw true talent shown off on the stage.” - Chloe N & Mandie H, Year 10 Social Justice Executives
Once again, the Social Justice team would like to extend a massive thank you to everyone who has supported our events this term, whether that meant buying a cupcake, cheering from the sidelines or performing on the big stage. It is the generosity and enthusiasm of our school community that allows these events to make such a meaningful impact and remind us that even the smallest of actions can contribute to something much bigger than us all.
We look forward to seeing the Mac.Rob community continue to support Social Justice initiatives again throughout the rest of the year!
